Everything that I've read has said that the total costs of the champagne, parades--and probably pedicures for the commander in chief--surrounding the 2005 presidential inauguration are expected to exceed $40 million. These expenses are to be paid through private donations.
The District of Columbia will be forced to spend $11.9 million from it's own homeland security budget. Funny that Michael Dell, the Enron refugees, nor any of the others seemed interested picking up the tab for the costs of the event's stepped-up security.
